There’s a bit of a bug at the moment that sends out an email notification to all of your friends when you make a comment instead of just the people in the conversation. We do want your friends notified of what your upto just not with an email every five minutes. We know, we’re fixing it, we’re sorry… :)

We’re also fixing a bug that is of a more technical nature to do with the connection pooling in the database. This is a biggie and will be fixed soon too, fingers crossed.

We also have some nice usability fixes coming in the next few weeks, again to do with notifications, things are going to become simpler… We like simple. Simple is nice.

Wouldn’t it be nice if I could somehow notify you of specific posts automatically?

For those of you that don’t know what Pushhit is… it’s our home grown social network. To quickly sum up some of the lunacy behind our vision: it allows you to share web content quickly with your friends. It’s meant to be fun, trusted, and we hope, a bit different.

For those of you that took part in our early testing, thank you. Your feedback and support was invaluable; Some of which we have listened to and implemented, some of which we ignored for now… and some we just had to pretend we didn’t hear in the first place :)

To anyone that we’ve met over the past months that expressed an interest in Pushhit, you’ll no doubt be getting an invite from one of us.

We’ve made a few improvements to the usability of it and, over the coming months, we will be adding more functionality and improving the general experience.

Pushhit is not open to the masses as yet, you have to be invited. If you are keen to try it out though, drop me a line at tom(@)pushhit.com and I will send you an invite.

We hope you enjoy using it.

We’ll be letting you know more about Pushhit in the coming weeks. Our testing in spring of this year was very interesting and has enabled us to tune our vision into something that we think is going to cause a bit of stir without having to go into web 2.0 hyperbole…

Doesn’t time fly when you’re building a social network? The last year certainly seems to have flown by to me.

Some notable highlights for me, in no particular order, have been:

Getting Pushhit online and sending my first Push!

Forming SimpleWeb with Mark – we have a really cheesy vision of bringing some credibility to the small business web site market!

Meeting Eugene and Keir and having them share the office with us – it gets a bit erm, cheeky?, in the office some times but I think we all push each other to better ourselves.

Meeting Irfon Watkins of Coull who has spent a lot of time with us discussing Pushhit.

Getting together with people in Bristol over Open Coffee.

Buying my lovely clapped out Kia Pride. It’s a keeper for sure.

Working for all of our great new clients! To name a few Easy Clean, Polartherm, Samba Consulting

It’s exciting times for us at the moment with Pushhit!

All I can say is, watch this space!

Dirty Martini’s if you’ve never had one uses the juice from the Olive jar as a mixer, it’s so toxic as a drink that it’s almost not nice. But it IS.

SO, Pushhit’s next release will have a few new goodies that Tom’s alluded to already. The two most noticeable will be a new and improved invite process along with a taster for the “comments” to come. Tom’s right when he says that comments will add a whole new dimension, allowing conversations to form around specific links and specific sets of friends, top down the ripples will be beautiful. :)

The invite process, we’ll be separating out from the push process. Watching people becomes more fascinating as time goes by. We have a “friends” section on the page and as somebody wants to invite a new friend they instantly go to the friends section instead of the big “Send to a friend” at the top of the page. Tom and I also instantly noticed that we both, despite the big pink “login” button at the top left, still automatically go to the tiny little login at the top right, it’s just what we’re used to. It’s a convention that almost feels like sacrilege to break…

I can’t wait to test pushhit on the slightly techie crowd, the digg users, the bloggers. It will be so interesting to see how they interact compared to the almost luddite like users we are testing on at the moment (I know not all of you)…
