Captcha Pussy
We started to get quite a lot of comment spam, it was one of those problems that we knew would come sooner or later. We thought that it was better to get something up and then refine it later…
The thing is, I frigging hate captcha’s. They generally put me off from filling any kind of form in, so we needed something new and easy. After investigating a few interesting techniques, we decided that a few random images and a prompt for the user to pick one might be a good way to go.
So here it is. All you need to do is distinguish the Pussy from the Action Heros – simple. It seems to be working well so far. We’ve had minimal spam since we introduced it a week or so ago, so looking good. What do you think?

I agree that most Captcha’s are pants - often the jumbled letter thingy is unreadable even to humans. At least this has a sense of humour!

@J.J. Walker, Chuck in those tight jeans is not too convincing, in fact sometimes I just can’t tell the difference.
Bloody spam though. We’re still getting it. Not as bad as before, but it’s still coming. I think I need to add a “comment flag” so that we can turn off comments after a period of time…
