Saving exif info with images in .NET

As this is my first post on Ok-Cool I thought I’d keep it short and sweet!

We’re just ‘rubbing some funk’ on our CMS product for designers. It’s coming along nicely but one thing that’s cropped up is.. where should we store descriptions for images?

As the CMS is designed to be simple (deciding what not to put in is a bigger job than what we should) we want a lightweight ‘Media Library’ that can be easily maintained by designers… this means storing the details in the database is a bit of a headache as we would need to monitor for any uploads via FTP etc. The other option we’ve considered is Amazon S3 and while we love this because it would allow us to store META information with the images, it would really be overkill for what we need (and cost us more; albeit not very much!).

The solution I’m going to try out now is to store the description using exif within the images.

It’s fairly low down on my list of jobs at the moment so I’ll update this post when I get around to it, but it doesn’t look too tricky. Here’s a link I found to do it:
